9-6 Jacks or Better Optimal Strategy

  1. Pat full house or higher
  2. 4 to a royal flush
  3. Pat two pair or higher
  4. 4 to a straight flush
  5. Pat high pair
  6. 3 to a royal flush unless 4 to a flush with AT and unsuited card is T or higher
  7. 4 to a flush
  8. 4 to an outside straight with 3 high cards
  9. Low pair
  10. 4 to an outside straight
  11. 3 to a straight flush, outs + high cards >= 3
  12. AKQJ unless QJ suited and fifth card is not 9 and not suited
  13. 2 suited high cards (QJ if AKQJ - see above)
  14. 4 to an inside straight, 3 high cards unless 3 to a straight flush, spread 5, 1 high card with no unsuited card in gap
  15. 3 to a straight flush, outs + high cards = 2
  16. JQK unsuited
  17. JT suited unless with Q, or with K and another suited card
  18. QT suited unless with J or K, or with A and another suited card
  19. 2 unsuited high cards
  20. KT suited unless with 9 and another suited card
  21. 1 high card
  22. 3 to a straight flush, 1 out
  23. Garbage, discard everything

     - Pat hand (including low pair)
     - Straight flush or royal flush draw (3 or 4 cards)
     - Straight or flush draw (4 cards)
     - Suited cards T or greater (2 cards)
     - Unsuited cards T or greater (1-3 cards)

Never keep:
AT suited - keep the A
4 to an inside straight with <3 high cards - keep high cards or discard
3 unsuited high cards with A - keep high cards except A
